Ecological parameter:  dispersal according to Tachet

Parameter group: life & body related parameters

Explanation:
Invertebrate dispersal can be aquatic and passive (e.g. drift). Aquatic dispersal can also be active, especially for organisms living in still or slow-flowing habitats. For most of amphibiotic insects, adult dispersal is aerial (fly) and active. Adult aquatic insects can compensate for the gradual downstream movements of the drifting larvae by flying upstream. Strictly aquatic, small organisms (e.g. branchiopods, bivalves) can be also passively dispersed by wind, large-sized flying insects or birds acting as carriers. Four categories are defined.
